Meet Sarah & Her
Culinary Direction
Origin
I grew up in a kitchen where food meant care—abundant, generous, and never rushed. My grandmother cooked all day: pasteten, roasts, filled eggs with caviar, layer cakes for every occasion. She never held back for family, and I was always by her side—watching, tasting, and slowly finding my own rhythm. That spirit still lives in everything I cook: generous, composed, and meant to be remembered.
My Culinary Signature
That same instinct — for taste, for atmosphere, for what a moment needs — now shapes every dinner, gathering, and brand experience I create. I bring a culinary handwriting that is recognizable without being rigid, and a creative sensibility that makes the briefing feel easy.
Recognition
My culinary path began in Hamburg's entrepreneurial food scene and deepened through the traditions of Parisian culinary culture. This dialogue shaped Head Full of Herbs — my cookbook recognized with Gold at the German Cookbook Awards for its creative vision and contemporary culinary approach. That same instinct for taste, atmosphere, and occasion now shapes every private gathering and brand experience.

FAQ
-
sarahby creates curated culinary experiences for private gatherings and brand occasions in Paris. This includes intimate dinner parties, holiday hosting, milestone celebrations, weddings, press and brand dinners, food installations, experiential activations, launch events andculinary concepts for agencies and creative brands. No occasion is too small if it matters. Every collaboration is designed around a specific occasion — not from a fixed menu or package.
-
Not in the traditional sense. sarahby does not offer standard catering with set menus and buffet formats. The work is closer to culinary direction — each occasion receives a tailored concept, designed to match the atmosphere, guest profile, and intention of the event. The distinction matters: catering serves food; sarahby shapes an experience.
-
sarahby works with two types of clients. Private individuals — entrepreneurs, creatives, expats, and hosts in Paris — who want their gatherings to feel effortless, intentional, and genuinely memorable. And brand clients — directors, PR leads, agencies, and founders — who need a culinary concept that represents their brand at the right level. Both share one thing: they do not want standard. They want something designed for their specific occasion.
-
Primarily in Paris and the greater Île-de-France region, including all arrondissements, Neuilly-sur-Seine, and surrounding areas. For private stays, sarahby is also available in Deauville, the Côte d'Azur, and selected European locations (London, Milan, Geneva, Brussels, Mallorca). Travel for extended stays or brand occasions outside Paris is available on request.
-
sarahby works in English, German, and French. Most client communication is conducted in English. German is available for DACH-based clients and expats. French is used when appropriate for local context.
-
It begins with a short request — either via the website form or direct message. You share the occasion, the guests, the feeling you have in mind. Within 24 hours, you receive a tailored culinary concept: the format, the direction, the atmosphere. We refine it together until it feels exactly right. Once confirmed, everything from sourcing to execution is handled. Your role is simply to be present.
-
No. A short description of the occasion, the number of guests, and the feeling you are after is enough to begin. The culinary concept grows from that conversation. Clients are never expected to know exactly what they want — part of sarahby's value is translating a vague intention into a precise experience.
-
For private dinners and gatherings, two to four weeks in advance is ideal. For larger or more complex occasions — holiday hosting, brand activations, or events with specific logistical requirements — four to eight weeks is recommended. Last-minute requests are occasionally possible and always worth asking about directly.
-
Yes. Intimate occasions are where the work shines most. A dinner for four or six guests allows precision, personalization, and atmosphere. The investment is calibrated to the occasion — not inflated because it is small.
-
The goal is always that the evening feels effortless — as if it simply happened that way. sarahby works with restraint: the presentation is considered but not theatrical, the service is present but not intrusive, the food is distinctive but never overwrought. Clients consistently describe the result as 'exactly right' rather than 'too much'.
-
sarahby handles everything: menu and concept development, sourcing, preparation, team coordination, and execution. You provide the space — a kitchen with standard equipment is sufficient. For larger occasions, additional team members are included as needed. On the day, there is nothing for you to manage.
-
sarahby works with a small team of trusted chefs and service, brought in according to the scale and format of the occasion.
-
Yes. Dietary requirements are discussed in the initial brief and integrated into the culinary concept — not treated as afterthoughts. The menu is built around what works for your guests, not adjusted around it. Common requirements (gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, allergies) are handled as a standard part of the process.
-
sarahby's focus is on occasions and events — not ongoing daily or weekly support. For clients who host regularly, a recurring occasion-based arrangement (monthly dinners, seasonal gatherings, holiday hosting) is a natural fit and can be discussed as part of the initial conversation.
-
The simplest way is via the request form on this page. Share the occasion, the date if you have one, and a brief sense of what you have in mind. A personal response follows within 24 hours. For brand occasions, direct outreach via email is also welcome.
